I walked past this little guy... the alley was empty... and his wings matched my cardigan!!! I looked over at hubs with eyes almost as wide as the owls... and he understood... style shoot time!!! This cutest of owls was done by street artist Dscreet, an Australian native that is now gracing east London with his signature owls... lucky me! Inspired early on by Warner Brothers cartoon characters, his own owls have now taken on an identity of their own. It's easy to see the influence in them, very animated and slightly childish, is it any wonder I can't help but smile when I spot them?!? You can sometimes find them alone (like this one) or paired up (birds of a feather), and always with exaggerated eyes and talons. Quickly becoming one of my favorite street artists, his use of bright, bold colors outlined in thick black keep me looking out for more. I not so secretly dream about owning a piece for our love nest (get it!)... the question is which one?!? It'll be really hard to chose just one of his owls!
So yea, it's no secret either that I'm a huge fan of street art... and that I like them as backgrounds for style shoots. You can expect to see some more popping up from time to time... exciting, I know! So the outfit... it's been a mix of autumn and spring over here... not quite cold but not quite warm either. That I can somewhat shed off the outer coat layer at least is fine by me. It's London and Ive come to (most of the times) accept this fact... summers are pretty much non existent. I do love the ease of being able to pair up a dress with tights, a cardigan, and some bold lipstick. It makes getting ready super easy and a lot quicker. With this outfit, I tried to brake up the solids with some fun patterned tights... and even though they are in a serious black color, I felt like they did the job! So here's how to dress for summer when it's not really hot enough to be summer and tights are still a must... oh sigh...
Hoot... hoot!!!
***Today I am thankful for owls... seriously, I just love those little guys!!!***
